Round Spermatid Injection (ROSI)
Using today's minimally invasive techniques, sperm can be obtained from men with vasectomy; failed vasectomy reversal, absence of the vas deferens, or uncorrectable blockages anywhere along the seminal tract (obstructive azoospermia). In addition, we are able to retrieve and use sperm in case of non-obstructive Azoospermia or NOA.

ROSI is the injection of round spermatid (immature spermatozoa) when no mature sperm can be found in the testes. Round spermatids are immature sperm cells which can be used for injection directly into the oocyte via ICSI. Usually this is the method of choice when there are no sperm present in the testes or epididymis. This method enables the micro-injection of round spermatids, recovered from the testes or from post-ejaculated fractions, into retrieved oocytes via ICSI techniques and enables the achievement of fertilization and prenancies. This technique will assist a great number of azoospermic males with round "spermatid-type" arrest in their testes and other male infertility patients with other severe spermatogenic deficiencies to achieve pregnancies throughout the world. |
